REQUIREMENTS FOR A CIVIL WEDDING
For the wedding ceremony or the renewal of the vows
you need the following documents:
Passports
translated into Spanish by an official translator with an “Apostille
attached”. (An official translator can be found in the yellow pages
of your city).
If you are a US Citizen, you need an "Apostille", which is a form of
international certification. The "Apostille" is requested from the
entity who registered births in the county or state you were born at
(usually the Secretary of State or the Department of Health). You
should send your birth certificates to the Secretary of State and
enclose a letter stating that you are getting married in Mexico and
that you need an Apostille. They will then return your documents.
You will need to send your birth certificate to such entity, along
with a letter stating that you are getting married in Mexico and
that you need an Apostille. They will attach this "Apostille" to the
birth certificate and will then return the documents to you.
If you are Canadian, please contact the nearest Mexican Embassy or
Consulate in order to legalize your Birth Certificate. For more
information please contact the web page below:
http://www.embamexcan.com/CONSULAR/FQGettingMarried.shtml
If you are British, you need to contact the Legalization Department
of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The Judge might keep the birth certificates, thus we recommend you
to bring certified copies rather than the originals.
The birth certificates do not need to be translated into Spanish. In
case the Judge requests to have a Spanish version, they will have to
be translated in Mexico by an official local translator (at an extra
charge).
Copy of divorce decree (in case you are divorced). It is necessary
to be divorced at least one year in advance of your Civil Ceremony
in Mexico. This is a government law and there are absolutely no
exceptions here. The divorce certificate has to be translated into
Spanish (if Bride is divorced). “Apostille” is mandatory and needed.
Tourist cards - which every foreigner obtains on the aircraft on the
way down to Mexico.
Please note that the judge will NOT perform the legal ceremony if he
does not receive all the necessary documents.
Blood test - it has to be made at the hotel in Mexico and it costs
154 USD per couple (to be paid in cash to the doctor).
4 witnesses with their picture ID (passport or driver's license) and
a copy of their tourist card, which they will receive on the
airplane. In case you do not bring any witnesses, the hotel will
provide them.
Important
The bride and groom and their witnesses have to be in Mexico for at
least 4 working days before the wedding, to get all the necessary
legal papers arranged.
The judge does NOT accept ceremonies for: Sundays, Easter week, the
1st and 2nd of November, the 24th and 25th of December and the 1st
of January.
Please note that once you get the marital contract you have to
inform your local authorities about the change of marital status and
proceed to register your marriage.
The wedding couple and their witnesses must be in Mexico for at
least 4 complete business days (Saturdays, Sundays & Public Mexican
Holidays are not included) before the wedding, not counting the
arrival date or the wedding date, to meet with the wedding
coordinator and submit all the required documents and go over the
wedding details.
Marriage License Apostille (for USA and British Citizens) – After
the wedding you will receive your Marriage License. In order to make
this valid in your country, we will obtain the Apostille for the
Marriage License as well. The procedure takes 3 to 5 months, as soon
as we have it back, you would receive by courier mailing. After
that, it has to be translated into English in you country and
registered in the city hall.
Marriage License Original Copies – every extra copy is 10 USD
payable in cash. This procedure takes around one month. As soon as
we receive it we will mail it by courier mailing.
The marriage is legal only in Mexico. If you want to make it legal
in your country you have to pay $ 45 USD extra in order to take the
Apostille. You will receive this paper by mail 2 months after the
wedding.

Wedding
Locations and Decoration
We offer two different wedding locations from which you can choose
from:
We also have two different types of decoration available for both
wedding locations. It could be Traditional White or a colorful
Mexican style. We offer as well two different options for the
decoration of the chairs: golden, silver or white ribbons.
Gazebo - Located in the middle of the grounds surrounded by
beautiful tropical gardens and a fountain. This is a perfect
location for a private rather small ceremony.
Beach - Located on the Paraiso Mar side of the Hotel, at the
entrance of the beach surrounded by palm trees. This location is for
those who dream of getting married on a sunny Caribbean beach.
Chapel – located at the Shopping Center of the resort.
Music
Included, within the packages, is music from a selection of CDs; to
walk down the aisle, we have available two different wedding marches
and the Cannon in D, or you can bring your own favorite ones with
you. A very popular option with previous couples is the Mariachis
(extra charge). This
is a group of Mexicans dressed in traditional outfits playing a
mixture of music with guitars, violins and a trumpet. ¡¡¡ Viva
Mexico !!! Another option is the Mexican trio, a group with guitars
singing all together. When you are more leaning towards a
traditional wedding we recommend to
hire a violinist, he plays a nice variety of traditional wedding
songs. E.g. Canon in D, Ave Maria.
Time of the Wedding Ceremony
You can choose any time of the day as long as there is daylight for
the Religious Ceremony. For the Civil Ceremony the judge will assign
the time, we can only request it, but it will be her final decision.
Considering the time change here in Mexico, sunset between October
and March is
around 6:00 pm and from April till September around 7:00 pm. Most
couple choose 4pm and 5pm mostly because the heat of the day has
passed yet you still have enough light to take quality photos after
the ceremony. ** The Civil Judge only perform wedding ceremonies on
the hour and based on their availability with no subject to change.
For Saturdays times available are only in the morning.
Flowers
We would appreciate if a few weeks before your arrival you let us
know if you have any special request regarding the flowers for the
bridal bouquet. We have samples that we can send to you by email to
show you what we usually have available. We have a great variety of
bridal bouquets to choose from. Depending on the season we offer a
selection of tropical flowers such as: lilies, tiger lilies,
Casablanca’s, gerbera daisy’s, Star Gazers, births of paradise,
asters and so on. We also have some more traditional flowers like
roses and white lilies. Also depending on the season and with an
extra charge we could get calla lilies, tulips and orchids… Extra
flower arrangements available with an extra charge.
Wedding Cake
You can choose your wedding cake during the wedding meeting in the
hotel. Our standard cake comes in two different shapes: heart or
round,
both covered in a white whipped cream frosting and decorated fresh
flowers, matching the bridal bouquet. As per the flavors, you can
choose
between vanilla cake, chocolate cake or strawberry cheesecake. Other
options could be available with an extra charge. The cake could be
serve after the ceremony with the champagne or after dinner.
